Deacon Frank coordinates our Ministers to the Sick and works in jail ministry.
Deacon Frank Sila studied at Nazareth College here in Kalamazoo and later
studied pastoral theology at Oblate College of the Southwest. He was ordained to
the permanent diaconate September 8, 2012. Renata and Deacon Frank have shared
40 years together and have two beautiful daughters. Deacon Frank works with the
St Tom’s group that provides ministry to the inmates at the Kalamazoo County
Jail. This group has done extensive work providing educational television to the
inmates. He also works at Borgess hospital in a volunteer capacity. In addition
to being a minister of the Eucharist at Borgess, he is a part of their No One
Dies Alone program. As the need exists, they sit with the dying patient who has
no family to share this important transition. Deacon Frank also enjoys visits to
those who are homebound or in nursing homes.
The difference between happiness and joy is the love and service that we give to one another.
