Is a summer program which invites students and permanent residents to spend Tuesday evening each week at a local migrant camp, playing with the children and visiting with the women and men who have worked all day in the fields.
Group leaders plan and organize games and activities for the children. Speaking Spanish is helpful but not required.
Children's clothing and work clothes and shoes and practical household items (towels, bedding, etc) collected at St. Tom's office garage (1333 Lovell Street) during the summer months, are shared with migrant families through the Aleman Center in Hartford. Working at the Center and sorting the donations at St. Tom's are other ways to participate in this ministry.
