College Students --
Welcome to St. Toms
Wednesday evenings--
will begin again in September 8, 2010
During the fall and winter semesters, students gather for quiet prayer at 7:00, praise, worship and faith sharing at 7:30, pizza at 8:15, and a topic or an activity planned by members of the Student Ministry Team.
Topics are drawn from four categories: Christian identity, Hot Topics, Service/Social Justice, and Just Plain Fun.
Each month we try to do something from each category.
This Week's Mass Schedule
St. Tom's is the home of Catholic Campus Ministry in Kalamazoo. Conveniently located between Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo College, we also serve those studying with Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies and Kalamazoo Valley Community College and other local colleges. We are a full fledged parish, with more than 750 registered parishioners, many of them employed by the college/university. If you are new to Kalamazoo or if you have grown up here and are now attending college, even if you are living at home, we hope you will check us out. Our mission is to serve the college communities
Our Student Ministry Team consists of about a dozen college students who help plan and lead many of the student activities. In conjunction with the Pastoral Team, the Student Ministers work to reach out to students on campus, to get students involved in St. Tom's ministries and activities.
Sunday Night Suppers
Sunday Night Suppers are served free of charge to
college students and young adults after the 5:30 pm Mass during
the regular school year.
Parishioners volunteer their time and talent to prepare
delicious home cooked meals each week. Supper is served from
6:16 till 7:00 pm. Suppers begin again on Sunday, September 12,
2010.
College Student Retreats
Weekend retreats are an important part of our ministry to the
college students. Planned and run by student leaders, these weekends
away from campus provide students with an opportunity to relate real
life issues and concerns with our Catholic faith. The retreats build
up the faith community among our student population.
Save these dates for our 2010-2011 retreats:
- November 12 - 14, 2010 and
- February 11-13, 2011
About to start college in Kalamazoo?
Please complete the new student information form and let us know your interests. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. The form creates an XML file which must be emailed to St. Toms. If you have email software on your computer like Microsoft Outlook, the form will start your email client when you click the Submit button, address a message to St. Toms, and attach the XML file it created. You only have to click "Send."
If you use web-based mail like Yahoo or Gmail, the XML file will have to be mailed to St. Toms. Instructions appear when you submit.
