How Do I Become a Catholic?
As a baptized Catholic how do I receive Confirmation and First Eucharist (Communion)? If you are thinking that you may want to join the Catholic Church or you were baptized Catholic but have not received the sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist, you are invited to attend the Inquiry phase of the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). We meet at St. Tom's each Tuesday evening from 7 - 9 pm. For more information, call the St. Toms office.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, accompanies people into the Catholic Church through a process of spiritual formation, which includes catechesis, faith sharing, shared prayer, and mission activity. The process is marked by several liturgical celebrations with the parish community. The goal of this faith journey is to bring about a conversion in the life of the person and the community. The steps include a period of inquiry, a time of Christian formation, Lenten spiritual preparation for the Easter sacraments, and a time of continued support and follow-up after Easter. Each individual is supported by a sponsor who belongs to the parish.
